12 Days of Giving wrapped up at PIHS today. Money raised through several different fundraisers this past month will support St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The Theater and Drama class performed “Christmas Shorts” for the high school students and visiting grandparents this morning. Made up of short scenes and monologues, theater students have been working since Thanksgiving to rehearse, costume, block, and memorize the show. This marks the 7th year Mrs. Laack’s class has performed the day before Christmas - a Pine Island holiday tradition!

Smiles, laughter, and a little friendly competition! Our 9–12 grade students loved spending time playing bingo with their grandparents. It was a perfect way to connect across generations and celebrate together before winter break.

Due to icy road conditions, Pine Island Schools will be closed today. All evening activities will continue as scheduled. Childcare will remain open until 6:00 pm at the Early Learning Center.

The Independent Living Class has been working on treats for Winter Bash. They had to pick a treat that they believed would be the most popular treat at the Bash. They had to cost it out at 50 cents or less per treat, including packaging. They then had to create an advertising poster, a commercial, and a table display for their product. Tickets will be given to students and guests at Winter Bash to "buy" their treat. The group who "sells" the most treat will win a special prize.
Our annual Toy & Gift Drive and Holiday Gift Event was a huge success this year! We were honored to serve 52 families and 118 children from our district this holiday season—amazing!

December 17 — the PIHS music department hosted the K-4 students for the annual “Making Spirits Bright” concert. The young students arrived dressed in their holiday best. The Concert Choir, Symphony Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble performed.
Some Pine Island staff & their children sang Christmas carols to spread holiday cheer at Pine Haven Nursing Home!
The Spain/France informational meeting that was canceled last Tuesday due to weather has been rescheduled to this coming Tuesday (12/16) at 5:30 pm in the art room. Hope to see you there!

Immersion students in the Spanish for Medical Careers II class practiced giving exams and instructions in Spanish to patients today with props.
