Greetings, Families. This letter is to provide a transportation update, specifically for our out-of-district families. We take great pride in our Transportation Department, which recently honored Director Tammi Quintero as our District Leader of the Year. She is supported by a skilled team of drivers and our highly qualified head mechanic, Adam Erickson. This past school year, we partnered with an outside consultant to review our department's safety protocols and procedures. The consultant collaborated with our team to drive and evaluate routes to ensure maximum safety for both drivers and students. Some stops were identified as potentially problematic, so changes may be made for the 2025–26 school year. Bus stop information will be sent to all eligible families in early August. Pine Island continues to welcome a large number of open-enrolled families from outside our district—thank you for choosing us! However, our out-of-district transportation area has grown substantially. To reduce ride times and better use our resources, we will be adjusting some routes. In addition, demand for transportation now exceeds our number of buses and licensed CDL drivers, so some out-of-district families may be placed on a waitlist. Action Required to Be Considered for Transportation: If you are an open-enrolled (out-of-district) family requesting transportation for the 2025–26 school year, you MUST complete the attached Google Form by June 30, 2025. Requests will be time stamped and processed in order of when received. You will be notified by July 31 if space is available for your riders; Bus stop details will be sent in early August. Note: All out-of-district families must complete this form to be considered for space. Pine Island residents do not need to complete the form. Thank you! Pine Island Public Schools We are always looking for qualified drivers—please consider joining our team! We offer in-house training and competitive pay while making a difference for our students.
