PINE ISLAND, Minn. (KTTC) – Pine Island School Superintendent Tonya Constantine announced on Mar. 24 she would be resigning from the position, effective at the end of the school year.
Constantine accepted a position as deputy superintendent at Anoka-Hennepin Public Schools, a position she will officially take over starting the 2025-26 school year. She had been the superintendent with Pine Island School since the fall of 2023.
“It is with a heavy heart that I let you know I have accepted the position as Deputy Superintendent for the Anoka-Hennepin Public Schools, beginning with the 2025-2026 school year,” she said in a letter to the Pine Island School staff.
Constantine stressed she was not actively seeking the new position, rather she had been contacted by Anoka-Hennepin regarding the position. She said she enjoyed her time in Pine Island and continues to have “enormous” respect for the people and community.
She wrapped up her letter by saying she will continue to work hard for Pine Island for the remainder of the school year and said it will “always hold a special place in my heart.”
