Barbara

Barbara Hoppe has taught at Pine Island since 1996. She originates
from Albany, Minnesota and received her Bachelor of Arts degree
from the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota.
She teaches Wind Ensemble, Varsity Band, Concert Band, and Cadet
Band. She is also the director of several extra-curricular groups:
Jazz Band, Pep Band, Thunder (drum line), and Music Listening
Contest. She is a member of Music Educators National Conference
(MENC) / Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA), Minnesota
Band Directors Association (MBDA), Organization of American
Kodaly Educators (OAKE), Women Band Directors International
(WBDI), and Minnesota High Sschool Music Listening Contest Board.

Joseph
Mish - JMish@pineisland.k12.mn.us
Joseph Mish started teaching at Pine Island in 1986. He
hails from Dodgeville, Wisconsin and received his Bachelor of
Music Education at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh.
He is currently working on his Masters in Music Education at
the University of St.. Thomas. He teaches Elementary Orchestra,
Camerata, Philharmonia, Sinfonia, and Symphony, and is a board
member for the MN High School Music Listening Contest.
He also plays double bass in the Rochester Orchestra.
He is a member of American String Teachers Association, National
School Orchestra Association, Music Educators Nation Conference,
Organization of Kodaly Educators. He is also the music
director of 1st Unitarian Universalist Church. WebSite |
Doug
Strandell - DStrande@pineisland.k12.mn.us
Doug Strandell joined the Pine Island music faculty in 1983.
He currently teaches Panther Choir (grade 6 boys and girls),
Troubadors (7th grade boys), Mannerchor (8th & 9th grade
boys), Cantate (10-12 non-auditioned) and Concert Choir (10-12
auditioned). He also directs two extra-curricular groups - the
Women's Ensemble and the Carolers. Mr. Strandell earned his
B.A. in Vocal Music education at St. Olaf College. Mr. Strandell
also has a M.A. from Winona State and in 2002 he earned his
Kodaly Mastery Certificate from the University of St. Thomas.
He is a member of ACDA, Minnesota ACDA, OAKE, KCM, MMEA, MENC,
