Math Department News!
The graphing calculator is a very useful tool
for math students. Algebra 2, Integrated Math, Trigonometry
and Analytical Geometry students are all encouraged to purchase
one as soon as possible. It is not impossible to learn the
material without one, but much more time consuming. For some
assignments where a graphing calculator is absolutely necessary,
students may share with someone else that has one but would
need to make sure they were finished by the end of the class
period. The calculator we recommend is any version of the
TI-83.
Students in the Analytical Geometry, Probability
and Statistics, and Calculus classes will be taking the American
Mathematics Contest (AMC) on Februray 10. Students all over
the United States take the exam on the same day. The goal
is to find the top students in the country that would make
up our USA team in competition this summer. It is always interesting
to see how our students compare with others in the area and
across the nation.
