Goals of the Program

The goals in cross country are to teach young athletes about an
activity that we love - running. We want to instill in them a desire for lifelong fitness, a
competitive spirit with others and with themselves, a positive self-image, and a strong mind frame. As a team, we plan to field a team that is competitive with other top teams in our conference, section, and state. SE MN is a hotbed for talented distance runners and we want to be a part of that tradition of excellence. "IF I CANNOT BE THE CHAMPION, LET ME PUSH THE ONE IN FRONT OF ME TO SET A RECORD." "WHATEVER YOU ARE, BE A GOOD ONE." - Abraham Lincoln "RUNNING IS A GREAT METAPHOR FOR LIFE - YOU GET OUT OF IT WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT." - Oprah Winfrey "Your biggest challenge isn't someone else. It's the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs, and the voice inside you that yells 'CAN'T", but you don't listen. You just push harder. And then you hear the voice whisper 'can'. And you discover that the person you thought you were is no match for the one you really are." - Unknown
