Rules, Requirements, and Policies

Pine Island Track and Field Policies

  1. Respect and listen to all coaches.
  2. Respect all teammates.
  3. Absolutely no initiations for younger or new athletes!  We have a respectable and respectful program and will continue to build team unity and respect.  As coaches we are liable for your actions and will not tolerate any such attempts at "initiating" a new athlete.  If you violate this rule, a meeting will be scheduled with your parents, coaches, and administrators to determine your eligibility.
  4. No drinking, use of any tobacco products, or any other chemicals.
  5. Abide by all rules of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
  6. At ALL times, meets and practice, you will conduct yourself in a manner that will make us proud to call you a Pine Island athlete!
  7. PRACTICE
  1. All practices and meetings are mandatory!
  2. If you miss a practice, you must have a written excuse from your doctor or parents (talk to you a captain if you have to leave school early).
  3. If you have detention, you are still expected to come to practice afterward and make up what you've missed.  You need to be a responsible student-athlete and avoid detention situations.
  4. First unexcused absence from practice:  MEET SUSPENSION, POSSIBLE LETTER DENIAL.
  5. Second unexcused absence from practice:  NO LETTER, FURTHER SUSPENSION FROM MEETS AS DEEMED APPROPRIATE BY COACHES.
  6. Third unexcused absence from practice: DISMISSAL FROM THE TEAM.
  7. Check in with Coach before you leave each and every practice.

    3. No wearing uniforms or Meet Sweats to practice or school.
    4. You will be billed for any sweats or uniforms that are issued to you that are not returned at the end of the season.

  2. BUS
    1. Bus leaves on time whether you are there or not.
    2. You must ride the bus to the meet in order to participate.
    3. Talking on the bus needs to be at a minimum.  This is time for you to get mentally ready for your events.

  3. WORK HARD! HAVE FUN! DO YOUR BEST!
