The Pine Island High School and Jr. High baseball programs will be lead by a staff that has decades of experience for the 2016 season.  After playing 4 years of baseball at Winona State University and earning his teaching degree in Elementary Education, Craig Anderson started his head coaching career at Central City, IA, in 1976.  He took over the head coaching position at Pine Island in 1977.  During this time the Panthers have claimed 10 conference, 7 Sub-Section, and 3 Section crowns.  In addition to his 40 years of head coaching experience in the High School program, he has been active in the Pine Island Summer Baseball program, where he has been involved from Tee Ball through the Legion program, leading the Babe Ruth to 19 assorted championships and one State Legion title. Josh Pederson is on the 4th grade teaching staff at PI, and was an outstanding catcher for the Panthers.  With Pederson's fine work behind the plate, the Panthers finished one game from the Section championship in 2005.  C-Team coach, Daren Wingert, is in his first year on the Pine Island staff.  He is a Plainview-Elgin-Millville graduate, who was a three sport athlete at PEM.  He played four years of football at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls.  The 8th Grade team is coached by Greg Arens, who has coached the team for several seasons.  He played collegiate hockey at St. Mary's University in Winona and was recently named to the St. Mary's Athletic Hall of Fame in the fall of 2013. Jay Strande has been a faithful volunteer baseball coach at numerous levels of the Pine Island Baseball program, but will be the head 7th grade coach this year.  He started in the Summer Baseball Program and he now enters his fifth year in the baseball program.  The final coach is volunteer, Darrin Schmidt.  Darrin assisted for two years and coached the Legion baseball team during those two years.  He is a former head coach at Rochester John Marshall.
