The Minnesota Department of Health has asked schools to monitor influenza-like
illness
and report daily absenteeism due to illness. In order to succeed, we need
accurate information from parents.
As of May 14, 2009, the definition of influenza-like illness is now considered
to be a fever of 100.0 F or higher
and one of the following symptoms: sore throat and/or cough.
If your child is staying home ill, we need to know what symptoms your child
has.
Please report symptoms when you call your child's attendance office
or say, "my child is sick with influenza-like illness".
If your child has been diagnosed by a health care provider with a different
disease,
such as strep, tell your child's attendance office.
Please see the parent screening tool on the Pine Island web site for more
information.
